The gates are open, the sun’s out (well, mostly), and the smell of campfire is officially in the air! Stony Fork Creek Campground is open for the 2025 season—and we’re thrilled to welcome YOU back to your favorite Pennsylvania getaway.
Whether you’re a weekend camper, a seasonal regular, or checking into one of our cozy cabins, May is an ideal time to enjoy the great outdoors. The trees are lush, the trails are ready, and our pool is gearing up for summer fun.
7 Fun Ways to Kick Off Your Camping Season at Stony Fork:
1. Hike the PA Grand Canyon Before the Crowds Roll In
May means cooler temps, quieter trails, and views that take your breath away. Head to Leonard Harrison State Park or Colton Point for panoramic views of the PA Grand Canyon. Challenge yourself with the Turkey Path Trail—steep but absolutely worth it.
Pro Tip: Go at sunrise for serene trails and golden light.
2. Cast a Line and Catch Some Peace
Fishing season is in full swing! Enjoy the tranquil waters of Pine Creek and other local hotspots. Whether you’re an expert with a fly rod or a casual caster, May is prime time to reel in trout, relax, and reset. Stony Fork Creek Campground has a great pond for fishing, too! Be sure check it out!
Remember to bring your fishing license and favorite snacks!
3. Campfires, S’mores, and Starry Skies
The first campfire of the season hits different. It’s all about crackling wood, sticky s’mores, and stories under a blanket of stars. Add a few essentials to your packing list:
- Jumbo marshmallows
- Wet wipes
- Flashlight for storytelling
- Extra sticks (someone always drops one!)
4. Meet New Friends or Embrace the Quiet
At Stony Fork, you can be as social or as solo as you like. Chat with fellow campers over morning coffee, or savor peaceful moments by your fire pit. Whether you’re in a big RV, rustic tent, or cozy cabin — there’s a vibe for everyone here.
5. Bring Your Dog—They Deserve This Too
Yes, we’re pet-friendly! Your pup will love the shaded trails and cool creeks. Just keep them leashed, hydrated, and ready for adventure. And hey, no paws on the picnic table, even if they flash those puppy eyes.
Bonus Tip: Pack a towel for post-creek splash zones.
6. Dive In—Pool Season Is Coming!
We’re putting the final touches on the pool for its summer debut. Watch for opening weekend announcements on our Facebook page.
Cool water + warm sunshine = perfect post-hike refresh.
7. Join Our May Events or Just Chill
This month, we’ve got some fun low-key events lined up—think crafts for kids, campground games, and of course, Memorial Day!
Or… don’t do any of that. Relaxing with a book and a beverage? Totally counts as winning at camping.
